TPO Industry Forum under New Waterproofing Standards

Starting April 1, the national standard GB55030-2022, 'Code for Waterproofing in Building and Municipal Engineering,' has been implemented. As the first nationwide technical specification for the waterproofing industry, it provides comprehensive guidance on waterproof materials, design, and construction. Under this new standard, waterproofing companies are actively seeking solutions compliant with updated requirements, driving innovation in waterproofing technology and accelerating the development of new products—making market leadership particularly critical. On August 16, JinXing Waterproof Group co-hosted the TPO Industry Forum under New Waterproofing Standards with Sinopec (Dalian) Technology Co., Ltd. at the JinXing Hulunbei'er Conference Center, with key representatives from the group’s Market Department, Manufacturing Center, and R&D Center attending.

Against the national backdrop of 'carbon peak and carbon neutrality,' with the implementation of stricter standards GB55030 and energy-saving regulation GB55015, waterproofing benchmarks continue to rise. The growing number of industrial plants and public buildings with steel structures has made TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) waterproof membranes a preferred choice due to their outstanding durability, long service life, and green properties. As a result, TPO has gained widespread adoption and application, with market demand steadily expanding.

At the forum, Jiang Yuming, Technical Manager at Sinopec, analyzed the necessity of using TPO membranes from perspectives including performance advantages, regulatory support, and standard compliance. Discussions focused on TPO applications in flat roofs, metal roofs, and single-ply roof systems. Key industry pain points were identified: reliance on imported raw materials, inconsistent craftsmanship quality, outdated installation techniques, and high entry barriers. Companies must address these challenges by focusing on user needs and pursuing high-quality, differentiated, and system-based development strategies.

Seizing new market opportunities and embracing transformation together. During the meeting, participants actively raised questions based on real-world needs, engaged in on-site discussions, and jointly evaluated the feasibility of proposed solutions as well as emerging trends in waterproofing technology under the new standards.
